The Bonka
Ball Boys Visit The Coal Exchange.........
This lot pitched up and
claimed that they were walking the South coast from Lymington to who
knows where collecting money for Cancer Research.
They had a huge repertoire
of songs which they sang in good voice together with plenty of hand
movements. All carried dummies which, when a whistle was blown they
sucked until the whistle was blown again, anyone who did not comply
had to give to the Charity Box.
Clearly, this lot live at
the margins of sanity and fitted in well with the lunch time
habitués of The Coalie!

From the Bonka Ball Boys:
On behalf of my pals The BBB's can I
thank you and your family/staff for their wonderful welcome to
you establishment yesterday. You keep marvellous beers & Ciders,
excellent food, exceptionally friendly locals and a 'service
with a smile' regime that should be conveyed to other such
establishments.
We have over the years, as you might
imagine, visited one or two establishments selling the amber
nectar but have rarely if ever come across such 'bon ami' and
service.
Thank you for your kind contribution to
our collection for Cancer Research and for the drink afforded to
us for the sing song, I hope we didn't blot our copy book or out
stay our welcome.
We thank you for the time spent with you
and perhaps we may pass your way in the future.
Best wishes for your future at The Coal
Exchange.
